Bookshelf FaceOff Axiom M3 vs Bose 201

I have read these forums alot and honestly i have never heard anything good about Bose, in fact they are one of the most hated brands on these message boards. Well I was fortunate enough to test my Axiom M3 against a pair of Bose 201 (the price of these speakers are similar)

Well I must say these bookshelves are in quite different leagues. The Axioms kicked the Bose *** in fact. Not to get into too many details but the Axioms M3 were bright, accurate and had so much better highs. The Bose 201 were a mess, they sounded muffled, boomy, no highs and just not realistic sounding in general.

I wouldnt consider myself to have audiophile type hearing by any means but I could even notice the difference, it was a big difference too.

Living in New York City, I often see their ads plastering entire cars (no other advertisements other than theirs in the whole car) on the subway. And then once last year, they had a buy out of the ENTIRE Grand Central station subway platform...nothing but Bose ads/posters. I don't even want to speculate what that cost them. And to think...all that money could be put into making their speakers sound better.

My brother in law has some 301's and an PS-8 Infinty sub. Not too bad, but for Xmas I got him some professional gear to record guitar with. Actually all's he needed was monitors, so I got him KRK Rocket 5's, and a KRK Rocket 10 powerred sub.

His monitor system blows away the Blose setup for the same money.

Yeah, I used to think Bose might be a good speaker until I read how much everyone hates them on forums like this. I have a friend with Bose 301s paired with an Onkyo M-282. One of these days I'll bring my new PSB B25s over there for a comparison.
