Looking to start building my DVD-A and SACD collections and am wondering if there is a BMG-like service out there for SACD and DVD-Audio.

Anybody know of one or used one. Thanks.

BMG does have a VERY limited inventory of SACD's - maybe 50 or so. Other than that, I haven't heard of any real discounts on the hi-res discs. I did just pick up Porcupine Tree's Deadwing on DVD-A over at Best Buy for less than $15.

I've not used it, but have heard of some others who are pretty happy with what they've received. From what I understand it's a monthly fee of $5.99 whether you order a disc or not. I think you have a queue that you just list all of the music that you want, and as long as you are a member (you'll have to check on membership rules and/or length of contract) they will send one disc from your queue. If searching for SACD's, just search by album title and enter " sacd" with a space before sacd.

Some of the members at AVS have used it, you could use the search function over there to get some more details.

I've been using yourmusic.com for several months. It is a re-working of the BMG club. You create a list of the music you want (like with Netflix). Then monthly they ship you the next one in your list. The CD's are all $5.99 and free shipping. They do, however, charge sales tax. For box sets, the $5.99 price extends (example 5 CD set would be $29.95), however, box sets cannot be on your list, you can just buy them any time. You need to sign up for the monthly CD service in order to access the prices. You, can, however, cancel at anytime. So if you have a bunch of stuff that you want, you can sign up for the subscription, make all of your purchases you want, and then cancel.

My gripes are twofold:

1. Their search engine is awful!
2. The selection is limited. Big name stuff I could find. More specific targets, especially classical music titles, evaded me.

I like the low prices for what they offer. Hard to beat $6 new CD! For me, also, I like having a list of titles and getting a new CD monthly -- evens out my music purchasing. Keeps me in check!

I do not have a SACD or DVD-A player, so I have not investigated SACD or DVD-A from them.

I just received the Elton John's GBYBR and Layla SACD's.

Next in queue, the Albert King and SRV "In Session" hybrid SACD.

A couple of ”Title” searches to try:

(DVD) will give you the two DVD-A's they have in stock and a few CD + DVD's like GBYBR.

(SACD) gives you four pages of mostly Bob Dylan and Elton John but why not load up at $6 a title.

(DualDisc) will list the well, DualDisks.

Make sure you include the ()’s.

If it matters to you, note that the SRV/Albert King SACD is stereo only. That said, it kicks a$$.

I thought so. Well since it's the only SRV disc I don't have, I gotta have it. :D

btw: Hawkeye, If you love Porcupine Tree (as I do) yourmusic does have the Steve Wilson and Aviv Gefin “Blackfield” CD for $6.

It’s very good, a little more more laid back, but I like that sometimes too.

Thanks!! But I got it as soon as it came out, and I do like it very much.. Recently picked up the DVD-A version of PT's Deadwing. Nice, very nice.
