Bluejeans Component Cables

HI guys. So I need to get a 30' component cable for my feauture DirecTV box when the new mpeg4 ones come in. Thing is I have suspended ceilings in my basement and that is how the electricity is wired for the basement. So I need a good cable so that the electric cables wont have interference with the signal. So would you recommend the bluejeans cables? Are they shielded well?

Now I also need a subwoofer cable that is about 45' long. Am I going to experience any degredation with a sub cable this long? Its probably too long for my needs but I like to have some slack in case I need to go around something. Also same problems near electricity so a good shielded cable is a must. So which one would you recommend? And please dont say monster because I am not spending that much money on cables!!!

RG-6 quad shield coaxial cable from Home Depot - $60.00 a roll.

Plus, 10 RCA connectors from Parts Express for RG-6 QS - $20.00

Plus, 1 compression tool from Parts Express for 30 bucks.

Total: $110.00 for 500 feet of some of the best darn cable money can buy.

For electrical wiring, cross at 90 degree angles and try to run as far from it as you can. You shouldn't have any issues.

awesome ideas. Im getting excited. But wait what is RG6 coax? I saw you answered me in another thread. Is that regular cable like I can use that installers use to connect direcTV or cable?

Also you are recommending this for component cables? or for the sub woofer? If its for component, then will it be the same "studio" quality as the bluejeans?

*EDIT* This is kinda what I did for ethernet cables. Bought a big role and cirmping tool and made my own. So Im all for it except have no idea that all these different cables can use the same "cable." Assuming thats what you are talking about. could you please elaborate?

RG6 coax is a specification of coaxial cable. RG6 is a higher quality than RG-59. So yes, it's similar to the stuff the cable company uses, but the RG6 BMXTRIX is recommending is better shielded and has higher conductivity.

I see. Wait so you are saying that component cables, and subwoofer cables in essence all use the same cable??? If I can make such quality cables myself that can compare to bluejeans, than why doesnt everyone just do it this way?

Not everyone is that talented or want to DIY.

Yes, a subwoofer cable can use a 75 ohm video cable.

As has been said... It's all just the same stuff.

75 ohm cables are used in the following cable types and you can use RG-6 Quad Shield coaxial cable (go to Home Depot, they'll have a 500 foot roll for you to see).

75ohm cables:
Component Video (3 cables - typically marked red, green, and blue)
S-Video (2 cables, special end)
Composite Video (1 cable - typically marked yellow)
Analog Line Level Audio (2 cables - typically one is marked red or black, the other white)
Digital Coaxial Audio (1 cable - typically marked orange)
RGBHV/VGA (5 cables - typically marked red, green, blue, yellow, black or white)

The only two types of cables in my home I didn't make myself are a couple of optical digital cables and my HDMI cables. Everything else you can do yourself and takes some time.

I will have a review up shortly of some 75 ohm DIY cables that take a total of 30 seconds for the average wife to prep and terminate.

No, I'm not joking.

FYI - a post where I go over this in detail with links to Parts Express products...

awesome thanks bmxtrix. I have a lot of reading to do tomorrow now. Thing is I was just over at AVS forums and di a search and guys are saying that its better to use high quality RG-59 cable and the fact that it has more copper makes it more useful for audio and stuff. They said that RG6 is better for RF because of the shielding but it has less copper so can cause interference in component and audio ro something like that. All in all they said its better to use rg-59 for audio. Does this make sense?

*EDIT* They also said to get cables at this website forgot its name but thats where a lot of people get their stuff. Ughh hopefully Ill remember tomorrow getting really sleepy now. Anyway I saw your plugs is there any way to label the colors though for component and stuff on those jacks? Thanks.

I would be one of those. I personally didn't want to mess with terminating a coax connection so figured the guys at bluesjeans do it all day & have the nice tools and experience to do it right. Their cables are very well made & use top-notch connectors & wire (Canare & Belden). If you don't want to build them yourself they are a good deal.

The website is probably Westlake Electronics. A great place for DIY cables (I did do my speaker cables myself & got the cable through them).

RG 59 type cables have more loss than RG 6 types. So, I think the RG6 has more copper as well:p

I see. Thanks. Just wanted to make sure. So.. What is the difference between the Home Depot RG6 and the belden RG6?

Also what is the difference between the connections that bmxtrix suggested and the ones used by bluejeans cables?
*EDIT* Also how can I make sure that the Home Depot RG6 is an all copper cable rather than copper coated steel in the center conductor and aluminum braid. And if it is not than does any1 know where I can get one? And how I can even tell that, thats the case?
