I have a two year old Hitachi 50vs69a projection tv

it recently has started developing a blue shadow
in the center and top

i thought it might be my center speaker or my DVR that sat on top

Does any one have any experience with this or solution?

Your TV is an LCD and wouldn't be affected by a magnetic field coming from a speaker or the DVR like CRT TVs are. If either were affecting the image, moving the speaker or DVR would cause a change in a short period of time.

Sounds like it could be a light engine issue. If it's under warranty, call now.

I had the same exact problem but I dont know if your tv is a rear projection if it is its probably the same solution. I posted a thread on avs forum because there are way more members in there that are knowledgable in video and because they have more topics in the video category anyways here is a response from 1966MG from AVS that might help you out I hope this helps

Not To Worry

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"My Hitachi 50V500 was purchased in 2004 and is waaaaaaaay out of warranty with the dreaded "pink cloud" but if yours is blue, same difference. Called Hitachi Customer Relations 1.800.448.2244 and they are sending a free replacement light engine to the store that I purchased it from. Money Saving Hint 1: Lug your set to wherever you bought it and get a free analysis of the faulty light engine to save a service call fee and Hitachi will have to contact those folks to verify. Money Saving Hint 2: Your store may even hand you the part for self install if you are up to it but either way be prepared to answer Hitachi's primary question: "If we supply the part at no charge will you take responsibility for the cost of installation?" Answer: "But of course""

circut city still covers it products through a second party if the tv is still under warranty I checked the website and this is what they said "Purchases Made Prior to March 31, 2009
Customer service, including warranty claims, regarding purchases prior to March 31, 2009 from Circuit City retail stores or online cannot be handled by the new CircuitCity.com. If you are having trouble with a specific product, you can click here to find the manufacturer support phone number and website for hundreds of the top PC and electronics manufacturers. Extended Warranty Programs CircuitCity.com cannot handle warranty contracts issued prior to March 31, 2009, or solicit renewables or replacements of existing warranty contracts issued prior to March 31, 2009.

so if you bought your tv before march 31st it will be harder to get them to cover your tv but if you didnt know circuit city is know owned by a new company and i think they only do sales online know. I would check out there website and see who you can call for your tv.
