Blue Jeans Cable vs. Audioquest Type 4 for same price: Which?

Hi guys, still kinda new on here but here is my dilemma. Recently upgraded my center channel to better match my L&R--from the B&W CC3 to the LCR6 S2 to match my 602 S2's. I've had the 602's for years years now and it's refreshing to finally have a better center channel to match!

Anyways, I've been somewhat out the 'audio game' and did some research regarding speaker wire for the center. I know enough about snake oil yada yada but...

It appears that getting banana terminated BJC 10awg wire is going to run me around $40 shipped. I see Audioquest type 4 (banana terminated) shipped from ebay is going to run me $45.

Which do you guys think would be better?

Again I realize from all the posts that Audioquest and few others are waaay overpriced for much of their cabling but given the same price in this situation as BJC I can't make a decision.

PS: I'm running Transparent Audio Music Wave wire to my L&R if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Wire is wire, so it makes no difference to the sonic result. It will be even cheaper of you buy 10 awg wire and put on your own plugs. If you want them pre made, then get BJC, Kurt the owner is a nice guy, and member of these forums. He also has mounted a big effort to put Monster Cable in their place, so he deserves support.

You won't need 10 awg speaker wire. It won't make any difference for your application (unless you just want a thicker cable). You can get the 12 awg in bulk from Blue Jeans and buy either the standard or locking plugs and terminate them yourself. Its cheaper and it is not difficult to do. You will need a pair of wire strippers to cut and strip the wire, if you go with the locking banana plugs you will need a small screwdriver as well.

Thanks all. So it sounds like I should just save the $40 and use the generic 12 awg that I already have? I don't need banana plugs...

And tell me why I spent $200 on Transparent wire with the little box thingy 6 years ago? sheesh.

Don't waste money on things that won't truly improve your performance.

I won't steer you away from BJC because I like Kurt a lot, but the reality is in most cases I've found 16 awg wire to be adequate for home theater. I've verified this in my own setup with double blind tests. In fact I use 16 awg for everything.

Now if you need to go through ceilings you need to be aware of what you can actually run try not to go over 50' in length. You get some issues with runs longer than and wires can become more reactive.

As always I post this link which is a must read.

Because you were not as well informed 6 years ago as you are now;):D

I tried type 4 and compared it to other wires of lesser cost and there was no way that I can recommend it.

Personally, I feel a lot of your cabling purchases depend on your visual taste. Performance may be the same, but some people like the look, feel, or bling of their connectors.

That said, buy whatever you like, but for the right reasons. Realize you won't be getting anything over the competition but aesthetic appeal.

I worked for a contractor that used 14-4 speaker cable with orange jacket. I have switched to cable with red jacket and it sounds much better.:D

Marketing is how/why expensive cabling sells and BS is how/why the extremely expensive cabling sells.

I think I have about three hundred feet of the orange jacket you speak of, I get them out whenever I need to trim the hedges, :D

Nah, it wasn't extension cord, it was Liberty cable. The odd thing is that it was for direct burial and if you nicked the jacket, it would split open if it was bent at that point. Didn't seem too durable, even though I really like the rest of their cabling and connectors.
