I recently purchased Species on Blu-ray disc and the quality is not great. I get white and black marks that frequently pop up. There small, pop up fast, but very noticeable. It looks like the same exact issues that happen when you go see the movie at a Movie Theater or watch a VHS tape for that matter. I hit the info button on my HDTV and made sure the movie was being displayed in 1080p. I also have Talladega Nights on Blu-ray and the quality is so much better and it does not have the same issues. I understand that this is an older movie so the source probably was bad, but how hard is it to tweak these minor issues? I didn't buy Species used or anything, is this really how some movies are on next gen formats? If so, it would be nice if there were reviews or a forum for next gen formats so we don't go out and drop $20-$35 on bad quality movies...

Just like SD DVD, BD quality will depend on the master and the transfer, which basically means the quality will vary from movie to movie. I noticed that with Sleepy Hollow, there were a few scenes were artifiacting was very obvious, while with Kingdom of Heaven, the picture is flawless.

Both sites are great, thanks! I really wanted Full Metal Jacket on Blu-ray because I do not own it on DVD but after further review I will not buy it because of the bad PQ.
