is it true that psp3 can play bluray disc/reg dvds/has hdmi/dvi outputs and plays a zillion games for 400 bucks the same cost as a stand alone, below average bluray player?

What is a PSP3? I know what a PSP is, and what a PS3 is, but not a PSP3...

That's what I was thinking.:D

PSP is PlayStation Portable. They don't even have a PSP2 yet.:D

But yeah, the Sony Playstation 3 is the best bang-for-the-buck.

Not sure about the "zillion games":), but the PS3 (not PSP) is a great Blu-ray player.

Depending on which model, you can play PS2 and PS1 games on the PS3, so that would be quite a few games.

Technically, the PSP2 IS out, it is the Slim (20% smaller than the original PSP), though it is not actually called the PSP2.

I love my PS3, great upconverting DVD player, great blu-ray player, and I can use it stream music and movies off of my computer. (SACD too, once I get my new receiver) AND it plays games. It is a pretty good value in my book.

So the 60G PS3 is $200 more expensive than the 40G PS3, and the 60G PS3 just adds 20G & SACD? Any other benefits for the extra cost?

4 usb ports on the 60gb vs 2 ports on 40gb
60gb is backward compatible with ps2 games

The 60GB is actually $100 more than the 40GB and it adds SACD and built-in PS2 chip as well as more USB ports and memory card reader. The 60GB so far has been the best model of the 4 that have existed in the market.

When I had the 40G PS3, I played some PS2 games just fine.

In fact, PS2 games were the only games that I could play because the PS3 games were too hard for me.:D

But for only $100 more, I definitely think the extra SACD, USB, 20G Memory, & Card reader are more than worth the money!

I mean a stand-alone SACD player is more than $125.

Oh, yeah, is the 60G Wi-Fi?

I recall the 40G had ethernet, but not Wi-Fi.

Yes, it has wi-fi.

I think the extra money was worth it, I have quite a few SACD's. I just need that darn HDMI receiver:mad:

Man, for $500, you get BD, Wi-Fi, SACD, 60G, 4 USB, HDMI 1.3, DTS-MA/TrueHD decoders, and PS3/PS2 games!

Like someone already mentioned it, if the PS3 looked like a traditional audio component like the other Sony BD players, and also throw in the analog 5.1 outputs, it would be so gold standard at any level.

If they could make the PS3 with the 5.1 Analog Outputs, I would buy one just for kicks.:D

I would love 5.1 outputs... then I could get lossless without springing for new receiver. The form factor is not an issue for me, obviously as I own one, and I agree, it is a great deal.

My wife got so sick of me the first couple of weeks after I got it, every other day I was explaining the latest feature that I found, or the newest idea on how to use it as a media hub.... she wasn't that impressed, I don't understand why

Welcome to the club.:D

My 6 year old daughter knows more about my home theater than my wife does!:D
:D My 10 Mo. old turns on the ps3, and loves playing with the controller, and all of my remotes if she can get her hands on them, and she has figured out how to turn the receiver off and on... I have a feeling she will be there soon!

I want to stream mp3 files from my computer, using my 40gb ps3 hooked up to my Home Theater system. My ps3 is connected to my wireless network. Is there a way to do this?

Tiversity is what I use.

It works great for me, and is relatively easy to set up.

AcuDefTechGuy, the 40GB PS3 cannot play any PS2 games. You probably had the 20GB PS3, which plays PS2/PS1 games using the Emotion Engine chip. The 40GB PS3 does have WiFi, the 20GB does not.
