Blu-ray issue through a Yamaha RX-V465 receiver.

Hello, Everyone

New guy here, so go easy on me.

I recently decided to upgrade to a receiver with HDMI inputs to do away with some of the wire clutter and improve my sound quality. Everything is great, except for one nagging issue I can't seem to figure out. I'll first list the devices I own.

Sony Bravia 46" HDTV
Magnavox Blu-Ray Player
Yamaha RX-V465 Receiver

I have always had a crystal clear picture with the Blu-Ray plugged directly into my HDTV, but I had to use the digital coaxial from the BR player to my old receiver for sound. So I get the new HDMI receiver to get the full benefits of HDMI sound, which requires plugging my BR player into the receiver first. I must say the sound is amazing. I noticed the difference right away, but I now notice small white static lines on only the left side of the picture, along the border of the screen. They are not constant, but show up now and then throughout, especially when the sound is really active. As far as I can tell this is only happening when the 5.1 surround is running. My DirectTV HDMI is flawless through the receiver. Appears to only be an issue when watching Blu-Ray. I have been searching for an answer on the web, which is how I ran across your sight. I am hoping someone more knowledgable than myself can tell me what may be causing this.

Update.

Nevermind.

Woke up this morning, turned everything on so I could see about finding the solution, and everything is crystal clear today. I love when things fix themselves, but it would be nice to know what caused it in the first place.

All is well.

If it comes back, try resetting the connections at all points. You could have a bad HDMI cable, somewhere. BTW - for cables go here, here, or here. No need to be paying outrageous premium prices for something unnecessarily.

Thanks for the links. The thought had crossed my mind that perhaps one of my cables was not up to snuff. I have watched several movies the past couple of days and have not seen the problem come back. I am guessing it may have been due to plugging things in without having actually turned everything off while doing so. Hence the reason when I woke up the next morning and turned everything back on the problem was gone.

And yes, I should probably buy any and all cables through the net from sites like the ones you linked rather than pay some of the asinine prices you see at Best Buy.
