Yeah. Can you imagine now if all of us tried to DL an entire BD-50 disc on "opening day"?

OTOH, I think j garcia was saying something about this all being solved in the movies subforum...?

Yep. The occurrence was mainly the frist day; I guess they not only underestimated sales of the disc, but how many users are BD Live capable :) The nice thing is they also released that "Go straight to the movie without downloading BD Live content" button.

BD Live adds basically some additional bonus content that is not present on the discs, but so far I have found most BD live content to be pretty much useless.

I was warned about the issue that was with the discs before I rented the movie from Blockbuster but when I watched it at home I had no issues what so ever!!!:D

It was only the first night; after that it was fine because when I went to watch mine this weekend I had no issue either.

Thanks. I guess this would be viewer activated either after the movie or before, certainly not during the movie?
Then it would not affect anyone not requesting that service?

Generally speaking, all of the content is accessible during playback, and with most movies, it can be popped up on screen while viewing. I have heard discussions of being able to access web-type content such as user reviews, trivia, etc... during playback but I don't see why I would want to be accessing some of those features while I am trying to watch the movie. Additional content can also be downloaded and/or accessed as well. I think what was happening for this particular movie was it was looking for the latest content upon launch, which caused this issue. When I watched the disc this weekend I said NO to download BD live content and there were some features that said "not available, connect to web..." in the extras area.

Thanks again. I don't know why anyone would play with the internet option in the middle of the movie:eek:

Do you have to apply that NO to downloads with each movie or can it be permanently set in the player? That too would be a nuisance.

Wait..... did I miss something... Do the new blueray players have Ethernet connections...? To connect to the internet..?

I have really never looked at any of those players ever, I don't have 1080p yet..

That was implemented for that disc only. So far I haven't seen a setting that would allow you to disable BD Live access, though I haven't looked for one either since it hadn't really been a big issue until this disc.

Yes, part of Profile 2.0 is that players are web capable for features like those mentioned above. One movie had a little flash-type Kung Fu game which was pretty funny.

I should also mention that you can "disable" bd live simply by disconnecting from the web. Not sure if it is as easy with other players, but the PS3 you can simply tell it not to log into your account, which is not the same thing as disabling BD live. I will give it a look right now and see if there is a separate "do not access BD Live" feature.

Mine has a pretty handy feature for disabling the web features. I just reach back there and unplug the broadband cable and voila!, web free. ;)

Yes, don't they also have the connections to update firmware and new releases?
