blown tweeter

Lucky me while tweeting my system I found i have a blow tweeter. It looks like the plastic frame got shoved into the tweeter causing it to break, yessss! I am soo stoked about this. Really though what am I looking at to fix it?and how? It is the tweeter in my definitive technology clr 2002. Thanks.

Sorry about your luck on the tweeter. You will have to obviously order a new one, then you will have to remove the damaged tweeter, and install the new one. The tweeter will be hooked up to a crossover network inside of the speaker. The big thing you will need to figure out is if it is a clip (spade) style connection or if it is actually soldered onto the Cross-over. If it is soldered it will require a little more finnese, but it can be done. Just make sure you are careful with the screws holding it in, don't strip out the heads and don't over-tighten them on re-installation. Hope this helps!

Yep,i've done it. Its kinda fun to look around inside. You know if they are not to much,why not replace both tweeters.

Def Tech should send you a tweeter at no charge. Just call them next week. You shouldn't have to mess with the crossover. Just clip the wire at the tweeter, splice it, and solder it onto the new tweeter - making sure your polarity is correct (check the existing tweeter before removing it). If you've not soldered before, it's simple. Get a $12 - $20 gun at radio shack or harbor freight, heat up the wire/tweeter post until it's very hot, then apply the solder. It will follow the heat and make a perfect connection.
