Yes it sounds like the tweeter or crossover is damaged. Does the speaker have dual binding posts and is the jumper installed properly if so? I've had that happen before, where the jumper slipped off the top so I got bass and no highs/mids. Yes, there are service centers in Ca, however the cost of the repair may be more than just replacing the speakers.

Hi thanks for replying.
Its only single post. black and red connections if thats what you mean. Not really sure what a jumper is? So,just getting another speaker is cheaper then repairing it?

It depends on the speaker. I know Sony has lines from rather expensive to very expensive, but their repair cost is usually starting around $100/hr, with a minimum charge just to look at it. That is why I say it may be a better route to get new ones instead. For example, these are $99/pr. I took a CD player in to them one time and the part they replaced was $19. The labor was $80...

If you are handy, you could possibly take the tweeter out and see if you can get a part number off of it and maybe order just that part from Sony.
