Blockbusters Online and Blu-ray Movies

Not long ago, I posted a message in a format war thread and said "I sure hope Blu-ray wins so I can buy a new DVD player"

I can't remember the name of the forum member that quoted me and said "Help them win by buying a Sony now" but it stuck in my mind like glue.

And Dan the President of Emotiva gave me a sermon on Blu-ray, and about all the things the Sony BDP-S300 ($499.00 + 5 free BD's) does. This was after I told him about my el cheapo DVD player.

About two month's ago I signed up with Blockbuster online because I thought they were better than Netflix, with the in store exchange/drop off and a monthly coupon for a store movie or game. I've been getting my moneys worth, trust me!

Today I logged on to order some movies, and saw this: Blu-ray movies now available in 1700 Blockbuter Stores. Woo Hoo!!!

Now none of this is news, but I went ahead and added over 200 Blu-ray discs to my rental cueue. I pay $17.95 a month, and watch between 7-10 movies a month. Not a bad deal.

So I've done my part to further the Blu-ray cause, where do I get my cookie?

I resemble that remark :) I believe it was me that said buy it now and support the cause ;) Blockbuster announced about 2 weeks ago the had selected BD for in-store rentals, and that they would still rent HD-DVD online and in the stores that were already carrying them. It was big news, and news that made me happy even though I don't use Blockbuster anymore (I might now). Congrats on the purchase!

Note: Netflix also offers both formats.

(note also, Clint is not a fan of Blockbuster online....)

Thank You j_garcia! - When I read your remark I was like "That's cool, point taken" and like I said it stuck in my head.

When the Beta Max came out, I was a youngster, but that was before Blockbuster, Amazon.com, Microsoft, etc. The only thing to do now is for someone to build a UNIVERSAL player, two trays or one, it can be done.

Even if Blu-ray loses the war, I'll just buy all the Blu-ray disc I can from Blockbuster, and have a nice collection.

There is at least one universal player on the market and a few more coming. The one I've seen is $1200 though...and at this point you could get one of each for less than that.

Now go get signed up for those 5 free movies if you haven't already! http://www.bluraysavings.com/
