Blaupunkt Debuts Sirius SR04 Satellite Radio Tuner for Car and Home

Blaupunkt has announced immediate deliveries of the SR04 SIRIUS Satellite Radio plug-and-play radio for both home and car. The Blaupunkt America SR04 consists of a removable tuner, in-car plug-and-play mounting cradle, DC power supply, wireless remote control and a satellite antenna. The audio output can be hard-wired to a car stereo receiver with auxiliary inputs, a feature available on most Blaupunkt car audio receivers. The America SR04 also has a built-in 12-channel wireless FM modulator to broadcast SIRIUS to any FM tuner. At home, the same Blaupunkt America SR04 can be plugged into an optional home accessory kit, which includes the home cradle, home antenna, AC power supply and audio cables. The Blaupunkt America SR04 is currently available from Blaupunkt dealers with a suggested retail price of $159.95; the optional home kit costs $49.95.

Thanks.

The one feature I really DO NOT LIKE with most of the satellite radios, is that they use FM to connect to the vehicle's radio, not rca connections. If I am going to pay for my music and content, I want it as clear as possible, not degraded and loss of stereo seperation etc, by getting downgraded to FM modulation.

I assume that it uses standard RCA connectors, right?

Also one thing I do not like is that the receiver does not have a digital out to take advantage of home stereo's DAC. Having said that, I have not found any satellite radio receiver having such a feature.

Incorrert. Delphi player for XM radio is available with an optical output. There are high end home recievers for Sirius also, but they will cost an arm ...

Can you hardwire the power supply from the car to the receiver?
