Big Box up to their usual tricks.

I dropped into FT dowtown Montreal today just for fun and looked at the plasmas and LCDs. There was a fancy demo of the Sony Motion flow with half screen showing motion flow and other half with it, well I guess off. Yep it was better with it on of course. The on side was also much brighter and and colours more vivid. Yep, usual Torch Mode tricks here as well. I bet they had ALL standard motion enhancement off as well.
So I looked at the other displays, Some LGs. Panys, Samsungs and most where much worse in picture quality even if they where 1080P/240Hz. Like real bad.
I have a Panasonic Viera 50 inch 720P plasma at home and it certainly did not show the bad motion artifacts or the poor resolution that the other displays in the store showed. There was a huge difference in the quality of the sub $1000 TVs vs the over $1000 TVs. Something was wrong here. There was no way that even a 720P display could have jaggies and scan line artifacts.. So I looked in the back. Yep. . the Sony was hooked up HDMI. The rest of the better displays where Component, and the sub $1000 displays were... composite video. This is Fraud. plain and simple. But most consumers would not have figured this out.
