I'm planning to spend around $1,000 to $1,500 and like the looks and the few reviews I've read concerning the BIC PL-89 home theater system..... a thumbs up or down?

That depends upon what you plan on using them for and the size of the room you'll be using them in. They might be perfect, or way off. If you can provide a bit more information it will help others answer your question.

Well, most people on Amazon seem to love 'em. Dunno if that many people here have had experience with them.

BTW,the PL-89 is a tower speaker system. What is this "system" of which you speak.
