Bi-amping question.

I have a two channel system and I want to add more power to my 4ohm speakers...even though they have a 92db sensitivity rating I think they'll open up with more power and control. I'm considering using my existing NAD C352 integrated to run the mids and tweeds...and getting a NAD C272 to run the bass drivers in a bi-amped configuration. How would this compare to using my C352 as a just a pre-amp, and getting a high powered amp like a Rotel, Parasound or Adcom around 250 to 350 watts and not bi-amping?

I would get an amp and go that route.Biamping does exactly Squat,. nada, waste of time,audio myth,not gonna make a difference I promise you that.You will be way better off getting a 2 channel amp like you mentioned.

+1. Unless you plan on replacing your speakers' passive crossover with an active one, you'll get a bigger return by using one more powerful amp.

My two cents

In my limited experience, I do believe that the true benefits of bi-amping will only be audibly noticed when amplification is handed off to a specialist i.e. a genuine power amplfier. And believe me your 4 ohm rated speakers can really be demanding if driven hard.

Bi-amping adds no more power, (Do you mean Bridging which does) I think you will need a more powerful stereo amp to hook up to your mains for more power.

O.K.,I now know bi-amping does nada,but will bridging be an equivalent as opposed to having a separate amp?

You have to have a separate amp - you can't bridge a receiver.

Just use the NAD C352 as a pre amp and get a power amp to go with it.

you don't want to run a bridged amp into four ohm speakers. It'll see them as two ohms and, while some home amps may tolerate that for short periods, on the whole they don't like that.

Read the NAD specs carefully.

Ok I know very little about this so this is just a question in an effort to learn. If you were using two seperate amps so they each had their own power supplies and were using them to biamp the speakers, wouldn't you then have 2 times the amount of power available to the speakers? I may be missing something very obvious here.
