Bi-Amping/Bi-Wiring

I have a pair of Phase Tech 9.1's and run them with an Onkyo TX-NR709 receiver rated at 110 watts at 8 ohms. The speakers are 4ohms and the Onkyo is 7 channels. I'd like to bi-amp the speakers using the extra channel using 12 gauge wire. Is it worth the effort and will it help the Phase Tech's?

It’ll get you absolutely nothing except money wasted on the speaker wire. If your ears are good enough to actually hear a difference, you should apply for a job at Phase Tech. :)

A search of the forum would have answered this question in very short order too.

Thanks, Wayne. I figured that much. Snake oil. They have always sounded good to ne the way they are.

Thanks for the advice, my plan is now to "down-grade" my front speakers to single-amp'ing. I never really noticed a huge improvement anyway, and less wiring means less clutter and conforms to the classic K.I.S.S. philosophy: Keep It Simple, Stupid. :D
