Hi all.
I just got a JBL Sound Power SP222 speaker...link below.
And I am soon to be using a Ashly FTX2001 amp to power it. Link also below.
I say soon to be since I havent hooked things up yet...tomorrow night is the night. :)

The amp does 1100W at 4ohm bridged.
The speaker supports 2400W RMS, and supports bi-amp configuration internally.

I'd like to provide more power to the speaker so I can use it to it's fullest during parties in my apartment complex, and when my neighbors are being pricks. They like to have loudest system contests when their drunk on the weekends. It's really sad since they have HTIB systems. 1 was a bose system he likes to brag about. lol.

So, what I am looking for is a good cheap (~$200-$300) amp that'll add roughly 1300W+ RMS to the speaker when bridged.

Any recomendations?

Also, since this speaker will get crazy loud, is there any low cost way to easily balance it out with my other less powerfull speakers? So when I am listening at normal volumes all the speakers would blend properly.

.....Reorx, when you put two individual speaker-wires, + and -, into the full-range posts of your SP222 center channel speaker, is the enclosure as a whole rated 8 Ohms?....and did you infer the bi-amping can only be attained internally, or are there two sets of posts on the back of the enclosure for bi-amping, making a total of 3 sets of posts on the back of the enclosure?....and, are you wanting to bridge an amp to go to those full-range posts?.....

.....edit....Reorx, answer when you can, we may can help you take out some drunk neighbors, and have them keeping their stuff rather in a low profile, haha....what you're wanting to do though, will take a little more than 300 probably......

.....second edit....Reorx, you paid around 900+ for your amp....you can only go 300 for one with more power?....can you go 600+ for a clean amp you can strap to 2400?....you want 5000 watts for 1500+?.....buddy, we can deal with drunk parties next-door after midnight......

:) I got the equipment for services rendered. So my cost was essentially my time.

There are 2 NL4 post on the back of the speaker.
Post 1: +-1 Full Range 4ohms, has passive light next to it.
Post 2: +-1 LF 4ohms; +-2 HF 16ohms, has bi-amp light next to it.

From what i've read, and been told. There are internal jumpers that you can use to configure the speaker for bi-amping, or single amp use.

What's wierd, is that when I looked at the specs over the last few days it's been 2400W, now when I look at it, it's 1200-1600W. JBL is messing with me.

Bleh, let me hook it up tomorrow night and see whats going on.

Since this speaker will get crazy loud, is there any low cost way to easily balance it out with my other less powerfull speakers? So when I am listening at normal volumes all the speakers would blend properly. Maybe something that supports independent speaker volume adjustments.

.....Reorx, go to Radio Shack and ask for a 100 watt rated mono L-pad....you'll want to get the black knob to mount on the L-pad also.....ask the salesman how to use it to turn down your center speaker....100 watt rated mono L-pad and black knob, maybe 10 bucks total.....

Well, the raidio shacks in my area suck a$$.
I ended up having to go to Fry's electronics. 5 different salesmen had no idea what I was talking about. I had to dig through the component section and found L-pads. Then of course, nobody knew how to connect it up, and the instructions sucked. So I looked at instructions in all the L-pads (8W, 15W, 25W, 50W, both stereo and mono), and was able to figure out what C, T, W abbrevations ment.

When I got home, I connected everything up to one of my smaller speakers. Everything worked the 1st try. Connected it to the big speaker and amp, and it would work briefly at low volumes then start clipping. But on the amp it said "protected mode" the clip light wasnt coming on. hmm... Then I wanted to kick myself in the ***. I dbl bridged the amp. There is a button that bridges it, and you can bridge it manually. I had done both. pushed the button off, and it works great.

The speaker gets loud, but I havent been able to turn it up past 1/5th the L-Pad. The wife started yelling at me, plus it was 11pm, and people were actually being quiet. This afternoon, I'll crank it.

Thanks everybody for your help.
