Best way to connect TV, blu-ray player, and amp?

Hey guys, I haven't been on here in quite a while, but I just have a quick question for you all!

I have a 55" Sony bravia TV, a Yamaha RXE-563 receiver and a Sony blu-ray player.

I'm just curious as to the best way to connect it all up to get the most out of my equipment. Previously I had my samsung TV running out of the receiver by HDMI, and the DVD player running into the receiver via HDMI. Now, because my TV is now full 1080P, and I may wish to watch 3D movies in the future, what is my best way to connect it. I was unsure whether I should connect it the same way I used to or not. I dont know if this receiver I have will retain the quality and speed passing through the HDMI?

The other option I thought of was to run HDMI from the blu-ray player straight to the TV and then run a separate coax audio lead from the blu-ray player into the receiver. Not sure if that would work, or sync properly though...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks again,

Matt.

If your receiver does not handle 3D, which it looks like it does not, then yes you would connect via HDMI directly to the TV. Some 3D Blu-ray players have two HDMI outs for this, so that one can feed the receiver audio via HDMI because you cannot get the higher audio formats via coaxial/optical digital connections.

Thanks for your reply.

There is only one output on the Blu ray player. Can I buy a Hdmi splitter and so I can run two Hdmi leads out the back of it? If so, do I need to find one of those that handles high speed as well?
