How big is the room?

If you could stretch the budget a bit, the HSU VTF-3 MkIII is on sale for $629 http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk3.html or the VTF-2 MkIII in black is $549

I use Mopads and a Gramma and I am very pleased with them.

If it were me, I would get the Outlaw LFM-1 Plus or the Hsu Research VTF2 mk3. Other good subs are the Elemental Designs A3-300 (there may be a bit of a wait on that one) and the Epik Legend looks like it might be a good sub too, when it comes out. You could get 2 Emotiva Ultra 10's also, in certain situations that would be a good setup.

For HT, music or both?

The Dayton RS1200K 12" Reference Series Subwoofer Kit would do a fine job for either.

j_garcia is right... How big is the room? If it's under 2000cuft a sealed sub like the eD A5s-300 for $550 shipped might work. But they can't ship for a few weeks at best. The Epik legend sounds interesting to if you can wait until september.

For a bit larger room an eD A3-300 might be a possibility. They tell me that it will do well in 3000cuft and you might be able to get get a b-stock unit.
