Best sub for under $150?

Long story short, I'm helping a friend with a project. He is willing to spend $150 for the sub... after shipping. That doesn't leave a lot of options.

I was looking at the pre-built Dayton 10" (not the Titanic).

There are tons of cheap Yamaha subs out there, I assume they aren't very good... am I wrong?

The Velodyne VX-10 is $170 shipped... if it is great I might be able to convince him.

I have been checking all over the place for used stuff, with not much luck thus far. Any ideas?

They Dayton 10 isn't too bad at all, my friend got one and I was pretty impressed at what you get for the money.

I have the Velodyne. It is in a 15' x 20' room with a vaulted ceiling and I am happy with it.

CircuitCity has a 12" MTX sub for 150 that is really nice. I have one and it sounds great.

I ended up picking up the Dayton Sub-120 slightly used for $90 shipped. The Velodyne sounded good but this was half price, so I went for it. I'm sure it will work for it's intended purpose.
