Best Speakers/P.Amp for Yamaha RXV1400

Please recommend the best speakers for RXV1400.Must be great for Movies and especially 2 channel music without having to use Subwoofer. If RXV1400 made to be pre.What is the best Power Amp to use along for a say..250W over 6ohm speakers?Thanx all ...

I doubt there is a best speaker for this or any other component. Since you have this component and are trying to match speakers to it, a cart before th ehorse scenario, you need to listen to speakers that will be driven by this components power capability. The speaker should fall into thew load limits and sensitivity enough to be driven by the available power to your desired level.
I would reconsider not using a subwoofer. It is almost a must.

For speakers check out Paradigm, Canton, Yamaha NS-555/777 or the high end HX series Yamaha if you can find them. For power amp, look on eBay for Yamaha's excellent MX-830/MX-1000 or MX-2 and MX-1.
