See attached picture..

My room hich is about 30 x 33 has a wall that is not square witht the rest for the equipment etc. and I was wondering the placement of the 7.1 side and rear speakers.. should they be mounted high, on stands or what? the picture shows the problem.. I would rather mount to walls but with the left side wall pushed out I'm not sure how to work in the satellites.. any help?

BTW I am installing the Mirage Nanostats with an extra pair of satellites for the 7.1

The Screen will be a 116" Dalite scrren 16:9 and the projector will be a Panasonic PT-AE2000U set approx 17 feet back, natural lighting completely controlled by automatic blackout shades, wall color light. It is the only possible layout due to the large bar/refreshment area behind the seating area.. the window on that wall prevented us from rotation. The layout is as-is.. now we just need to arrange best speaker arrangement. The seating is two rows of 5, 7" riser on back row.

Thanks!

I would mount the LS on the wall between the window and the corner where the wall pushes out and mount the RS on the wall opposite. The LR and RR can be mounted on the back wall above the Bar.

For the record, I don't like to have my surrounds mounted very high, maybe 5 or 6 feet high. Due to my room, I have to have my surrounds mounted between the top of door frames and the ceiling. More often than not, I find the surrounds more distracting than pleasing with the sound coming from up near the ceiling. Try to keep them around ear height when standing, more or less.

Good luck. It looks like a nice HUGE room. Pics?

Thanks for the input.. Yes I will definetely push pictures as the room progresses.. Do you think the Mirage Nano's are a good fit or do you think of anyovers in the price range would be a better fit

A 30 x 33 room is screaming for a large speaker. I think the Nanos will be lost in there. I would at very least use some towers or large bookshelf for the front 3 speakers. You could use the Nanos for the surrounds.

after some though I agree.. soo...

Here is a better plan..

Sub will be: Mirage S10
Fronts will be: Omnisat V2 FS
Omnisat V2 CC
Satellites: Omnisat v2 (x4)

That better?

BTW Greg.. nice system and Bike!

You are getting closer. I take it you are going for a certain look vs. what's going to work best? That sub will not touch your giant room.

Thanks for the comments on my toys.

Agreed on the sub. That is quite a large room. This is the minimum I would suggest, plus the sale price is great. It's a little more money than the Mirage, but a HUGE improvement in capability.

How far away is the primary listening position?
How much do you place on great bass, low and powerful?
That volume and distance from primary speakers may need a more substantial speaker setup.

The first row of seats would be at 14'2".. what better speak arrangement would you recommend then.. I have heard the omni's and they sound great.. I beleive that is the largest sub mirage sells..I lloked at the SVS 12 Plus.. price is too steep.. is it the subs wattage on the mirage that is the issue

Szymas if I were you with that large of a room I would go for some larger speakers. If you like the Mirage speakers(I own Mirage speakers) I would take advantage of the deals they have on the larger omni series. I have the c150, 150 for surrounds, and the omni 550's as fronts. That all together cost me $670. They are all large speakers and are very efficient and the sound stage is amazing. I know people are going to say I'm just pushing what I have. Well, I am. But, it makes sense since you are already looking at Mirage speakers. The 550's have very impressive bass response and I think you need some big speakers for that space. They have run out of the c150 and 150 at Crutchfield, but you can still grab some at Vanns.com but I would hurry. Hope this helps

I also highly agree with Dave about the sub. Don't go with Mirage for the sub(in general) espeacially for that large room. I would go with an SVS or HSU sub. Also, check into the new Emotiva dual sub system that is comming out in January. I really want one!!!(if it gets a good review)

I'm sure the Emotiva subs would work out great for that room. Problem is, it costs more than the Plus. The sale on the Plus in premium finish is a steal, certainly worth stretching for if it's just out of reach. I mean, with a dedicated theater in a room that size, how are you going to pressurize it with a cute little sub?

If I go with the SVS 12 plus sub will the Omnisats that I picked out be fine?

If the Omnisats are otherwise suitable for your room and tastes, then it should be a very nice combination. A good subwoofer should be able to blend well with virtually any speaker.

Agreed. Since you'll be cutting off the satellites at 80Hz anyway, no need for a huge floorstander and it's associated cost. All you really need is a speaker that will do the dynamics and volume levels you need, image well, and have the tonal balance you prefer. As long as it will go down to say 60Hz, you'll be fine.

Use the money saved to get that better sub.
