Best Solutions for Splitting Audio

Hey guys,

I have a Harmon/Kardon AVR 10 hooked up to its accompanying 5.1 system and Sony Bravia in the living room. We are looking for the best solution to power 2 rock speakers and 2 deck speakers (we are in the market for these, recommendations?)in the backyard from this system. I assume we will need to do some splitting, but am otherwise clueless. If it helps, you can google harmon kardon avr 10 and download the manual for specifications on the avr 10

Which outdoor deck speakers do you recommend? I would like to keep it around $200 for a powered pair if that's possible.

Thanks,

You don't get 'powered' (active) speakers typically as they require 120 volts run to them. You would get a separate amplifier (about $100 used via eBay) and a set of outdoor speakers (pick a brand) and then run outdoor speaker wire to them.

You can get outdoor speaker wire from www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com They also have speakers and other accessories.

As for the best way to get audio outside... if that is the only zone you have then you want to figure out what audio you want to be able to play out there and whether you want to have to turn things on inside to do things outside, etc. Basically, beyond the want for something outside, you haven't said much about what you want or expect from your outdoor system.

Your AV receiver is extremely inexpensive, and is over half a decade old. It will have no part in your outdoor setup in any way, at all.

Realistically, I would pick a SINGLE source, like a CD player, and use a passive splitter like this one to get audio into an amplifier:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040107&p_id=2050&seq=1&format=2

Then I would connect a decent amplifier....

To some outdoor speakers...

And I would turn them on by turning the amp on, and adjust volume with the volume knobs right on the front of the amp.

Your budget is extremely limiting and your A/V receiver completely rules it out as being any benefit to your setup at all.
