I have the Yamaha RX-V1700 i have brand new fronts and center and 2 new rear surrounds. I am awaiting my sub which is on pre-order.

What should at set my receiver at for a setting. LARGE? or SMALL?. What should the crossover be set it also? Because i obviously will be having no sub to output any LFE. I don't want to overload my other speakers with to much bass responsibility.

Any suggestions?

When you tell your receiver you don't have a sub, your receiver will automatically set your mains to large and not allow you to change them to small(I'm not aware of any exceptions). So your crossover will only apply to your center and surrounds. Check the specs on your center and surrounds to find the best crossover point or just use the default 80Hz to start with and go from there.

cheers:)

In addition to what macca350 said, you will not lose any LFE from the ".1" channel of a DD/DTS disc as that will be routed to the speakers that were set to Large.
