I'm looking for new/used/reboxed Audioengine A2 or A5's.

I'd really like the A5's, but the price is a little steep... I've been checking on-line, and the best price I can find is $325.00 :(

The best price I can find for the A2 is $199.00 :(

Please suggest some on-line stores that are reputable, honest, and with a good return policy, if in fact these don't work out for me...

I'm going to use my iPhone to play music, and I'm looking for something semi-portable, with good sound... These would be small enough to go up north to the cottage, out to the beach with a power source, into work, etc... without too much hassle. Yes, I know there are a TON of iWhatever devices, but most of them sound like crap.

And thanks, in advance...

Yup, looks like there is not much you can do about that.

If you are looking for something truly portable and iPod integrated, from personal experience, the HK Go+Play is really good. It has a huge, yet clean sound (when not pushing it to fill a stadium with sound) and can be battery or AC operated as need be.

I remember being impressed by how much bass and volume it put out.

I can't post links but it is "Provantage". Legit re-seller. I bought my A5's from them.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks... I guess I will just have to pony up the $$$, or buy something else.

Audioholics or Buy4Less had a Canton iPod set up for 70% off... I'm just not familliar with Canton...

I'll consider the HK, thanks for the advice on that one.

B&W makes the Zepplen, but at $600 bucks, I think I'm better off with something else.

How do you like your A5's? Are they worth the money, and what application(s) are you useing them for?

thanks.

I like them alot. I use them near-field in an office set-up. They can really crank. I probably have the volume at 1/3 and it's plenty. The most impressive thing for me, was when I used them short-term to sub for living room speakers while I waited for my RS6's to arrive, and they astounded me by sounding better than my old Ascend 340(classics's); Deeper bass, more authority, and better imaging. The amp did get pretty toasty with extended loud use however.

Overall very satisfied.

Chris
