Hi Guys,
I have been researching for days on a good 7 ch. preamplifier/amplifier that can really produce great sound for Axiom Epic 80 system. What do you guys think of Outlaw 950/770 combination. Is it a top notch system? Does anyone have better suggestions. I have one more questions : Is it advisable to go for separates from different companies. If yes could anyone suggest a great combination in 7 ch series.
Thanks in advance.

If your budget is around $4,000 then you may want to consider the Emotiva Pre/Pro and Power Amp from AV123. http://www.av123.com/pop_news.php?id=44

It's not out yet but has the potential to be a killer in the price/perfomance bracket. You can also find lot's of pictures and other info if you go to AV123.com and do a search for Emo or Emotiva.

Here's a prospect:

Sherbourn PT-7000 PreProcessor
& Sherbourn 7/2100 7-channel Power Amplifer Review
Check out Gene's review.
The combination lists a few hundred over $4,000 but I think you could shop around and get them under $4,000!

Cheers

Have you seen THIS THREAD at AVS forums?

Basicly, people are reporting that they are getting very very good results with using PRO amps, like the Crown 402 and others.

Killer WPC, Stable down to 1 or 2 Ohms, lots of headroom.

You could BI-AMP your center, Front LEFT and RIGHT speakers, and power two Side and two rear center speakers with 5 amps, costing about 250 each, or around 1250 plus shipping.

Not too shabby!

Just a thought.

Hi Buddtx,
After reading your tips I have been researching on the Pro amps. I liked what I read but I have not been able to find the amps for the price you mentioned. Do you know any website which sells pro amps for that price.
Thanks,
Rajx

Be careful with proamps. They are usually designed for power and efficiency with little regard to noise control. In most cases you are better off with lower power, lower noise amplifiers in dedicated home theater amplifiers and even high end receivers.

The AV123 combo does look promising. Also, consider a sub $1k receiver as a pre/pro and pair it with a good 7CH amp from Sherbourn, Rotel, etc.

If I were spending $4K on a receiver or pre/pro+ amp, I would'nt even consider a solution without i.link or other proprietary xmission for DVD-A/SACD. Though I am more biased towards music than home theater :D
