I am seeking your advice for my new apartment; and for 2500-3500 what is the best television for the money in the 50 in range? And do you reccomend Plasma or LCD in a room with some indirect sunlight throughout the day.

that depends on what the merchants have on sale at any particular time. Check your sunday papers and let us know what's available and for what price.

The Panasonic TH-50PX60U is a great deal at $1999.

What is the difference between the TH-50PX60U and TH-50PH9UK
The /60U is the consumer version that includes speakers, tuners, and input jacks. The other is a commercial display only - no tuner or speakers. You pay extra for input "blades" (like HDMI inputs). The displays are the same glass - only the bezels are different. These days, the -60 or -6 versions are a better deal, IMHO. Costco has the -6 for about 2K.

TH-50PX600U versus TH-50PX6U. Both are on the costco website but there is a 300 dollar price difference. also where do you buy the blades for TH-50PH9UK if you wanted to insert an hdmi imput?

Westinghouse LCD LTV 32w6

Whats up. This is my SECOND, (and still not satisfied) Westinghouse. I must say for $899, and now $699 @ bb the picture is great. Its bright , realistic, andf smooth. BUT, the first one i bought had white bleeding in from all four cornors, when on a black screen. The one i have now has a little bit of of the bleeding . Im affraid to exchange it and get something worse. But the picture is awesome.

The Blades can be ordered from the same sites that sell the monitors. The differences between the various flavors of the 50" plasma are simply the tuners, speakers, and, in one instance, the inclusion of a flash memory card reader. The one I got from Costco (-6U) has just a ATSC tuner (for HD), which is all I really need.

i can give another positive vote for panasonic plasmas. have only owned mine for a few weeks, but seems very good. i like the plasma images better than LCD in general and also liked the plasma prices versus comparable sized LCD's. also, saying "i have a 50" plasma" sounds cooler than "i have a 50" LCD", and all that really matters is the cool factor.

i wouldn't call any TV at $2,000 a "great deal". but, relative to where prices were a year or two ago, it is a better price. let's face it, with all of the more legitimate expenses in this world (a roof, healthcare, education, savings, etc.) spending $2,000 on a TV is not exactly a good use of money. that being said, i spent $2,000 on my TV and you'd have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. but, no $2,000 luxury is a great deal.

The cool factor definitely trumps everything else but it is in the eye of the beholder. I think saying 'I have a 50" LCD' sounds cooler than 'I have a 50" plasma'. Plasma was the first flat panel display type to market and is so 'old school'. You don't want people to think you aren't cool enough to go for the latest and greatest, now do you? :)

I have yet to meet *anyone* (who isn't a videophile) who doesn't think plasma is cooler than anything else.

LCD is for notebook computers and flat computer monitors. It's so old school calculators and $2 wristwatches have been using it for 30 years. But plasma? Plasma is f'in cool and *means* sexy flat panel big screen TV.

I thought my dad was the last 'member'. I remember how my sister and I pleaded with our parents to get a Members Only jacket and now neither of us have one but dear old dad has one.
