Best over all, Paradigm S8 or RBH T2P

Hi everyone
I need some help. I have a 14x21x8 room. I'm building a system from the ground up. I am going to listen to the paradigm S8 speakers and matching surrounds system this week. I want to listen to the T2P system from RBH but the only dealer is 4 hours away. I need some input on the two, so I will know if I need to take a road trip. I know this is the wrong thread but, which front end the 5805 with all three front speakers Biamped or the D1, P5 and P2. thanks for the help

I think it is worth a 4 hour road trip to audition the RBH.

Not a lot of us own those speakers, Vince. We can only comment that they have had some good personal reports. RBH have been selected to use in the Audioholics Ultimate Home Theater, or whatever it is being called. And the president of AH uses RBH, albeit a different model, and recommends them highly.

Is it 'worth' a 4 hour drive? That likely depends upon whether you end up liking them or not. If it all possible it is best to listen to speakers in your own home/listening environment. As you'll see sprinkled throughout this forum, speakers are a matter of personal taste. No two people hear alike. That's why there are so many speaker companies, lol. Speaker selection is a quite personal decision. I'd say the more speakers you audition, the better! When you find one you like (and can afford), buy it.

Advice, well there is only one piece of advice anyone could offer that would be highly accurate.
One see if you can return with no stocking charges anything you attempt to purchase for a trial basis time.
Thats not likely, its rare.
Then make every attempt to try out as many speakers and makers as you can. Bring your OWN music with you in every format you use.
Then make your pick.

The only thing you get from forums is opinions. Opinions are highly sway-able to makers, because of one reason or another, price is and issue for most, tastes are like opinions, everyone has one and no 2 are alike, close, but not alike and the bottom line is you are spending the buck, its your budget and your ears that has to listen to it.

I went through this myself and was quite amazed at the findings. Trolling the boards for months after years of kids and no decent system trying to see what was in for today. I had 3 types from yesteryear which 2 are still around and one gone that I wanted to hear. I also took all the suggestions made on the boards which limit spending below most times $400 a pair with taxes and looked for whom dealt what. I found the 2 older makers no longer make there own product and they sounded like it. Then the ones suggested didnt sound good either in some cases, or I couldnt justify the costs for minor improvements. The ones I settled on outside both my own suggestions and others given to me made it home!! Those speakers at the same time were in production when I purchased my last pair and at that time you couldnt get me to buy them, but now!!

i purchased the S8 in may of this year, & am still waiting on delivery. however as a condition of the deal i get the store's demo S8 until mine arrive. as they are a completely different speaker than my old klipsch RF7, it has taken some time to get them properly set up & dialed in, & still tweaking the speaker position, location & room accoustics, but i am very, very happy with them, & will be even happier when my cherry speakers arrive so i can return the bird's eye maple which match nothing in my living room, as my mother so considerately pointed out this weekend. if you want more info or have specific questions feel free to email me at indcriminaldefense@yahoo.com. please put paradigm in the subject line if you do email as for work i at times receive 100+ emails a day from several list servs & at times am prone to skimming & mass deleting. soon will be demoing the reference 100, S2 & S4 as centers &/or surrounds & have yet to even start shopping for a sub.

i have not heard any rbh product so cannot comment other than make the drive & compare for yourself. i was considering rbh but never got to listen, & i'm getting full trade in for my RF7's so that sealed the deal for me after a home demo of the S8.

I have heard the s8's at a local store. They sounded phenominal paired up with the new anthem statement. It is definitely worth the trip for you to hear them and also hear others if you are spending that kind of money. As for me I could not afford a speaker that expensive. I had to settle for the studio 60's.
I just got them about a month ago and I think they sound pretty good for my budget

Line Array speakers

The RBH T2 is a modified line array speaker. AV123 is currently developing a new line of "real" line array speakers in the $3-4k range with 8-12 drivers and 6-8 ribon tweeters on each speaker. Previous models by Danny Richey sold in the $10k price range. Check it out on the forum page of AV123.com.

since you are looking at some high end. may i suggest you look

at salk audio. to not look and just buy something else is a big mistake. you have to see and hear them to believe it. you can get them custom made for the wood you want. you can get anything you want. of course you have to pay for it. but the pricing is good.
