Hi, I use the 10 band EQ from itunes, and I was wondering if some audioholics have some tips and tricks and tips for me.

I would like to achieve a real clear and crisp sound without setting the treble all the way up, any suggestions?

Thank you ;)

When talking EQ it helps to take the word of it almost literally. Equalization is meant to get audio that is reproduced in audibly imperfect environment smoothed out and sounding as intended by the production team/musicians.

I don't use iTune's, so here goes any ways :)

Does iTune's have several presets? If so try them out. You could also futz around with it and simply adjust to your liking. If you are holding out for some magic 'twist of the dial' to suddenly bring your audio into a whole new arena, you will most likely be disappointed.

Most people who EQ here use some form of RTA (Real Time Analyzer) to make it happen.

I understand you point, look.
All I wanna do is just achieve great clear sound or as some of you might describe it here "bright", and as you know I don't wanna compromise my speakers, As I was told by other members in this forums, too much treble can literally "fry" the treble on the speakers.

Now, I've tried the "presets" on itunes but the audio sounds really "lifeless" really "muffled", so I hope some ppl here can give me some advice.

Thank You.

What can the people helping you here expect if they walked into you listening environment?

Hey don't sweat it! An audioholic appreciates good sound, not who can spend the most on their equipment.

I don't use iTunes, but I have a Sansa Fuze that I play a lot of Rhapsody content with. It's tough to get an EQ that sounds good with everything. I did my own EQ (surely you can do a custom one?). I think that the rock preset was one of the better ones, but still not that great. It's pretty tough, especially if you listen to a wide range of music.

As long as the EQ works, it shouldn't hurt. Looks like a 32 band EQ.

You would need to get a SPL meter (Radio Shack makes a cost effective one). Get a test tone CD (Avia II) and google for REW (room eq wizard).

WOW you're right.....well In my case I don't need a 32 band EQ, all I want is a 10band one...
I've look on my local flea market but nothing...any ideas on where can I look for one?
I don't have to mention, I can't pay $500 for it like many of you here....so...Im not looking to get anything fancy.. ;)
