Best Connection 4 Music CD's

If I'm playing a regular music CD, what connection gives the best sound.

So far I have the 5.1-ch Analog and Coax audio connected from my DVD player to the Yammy. The 5.1-ch is used for DVD-A/SACD and the Coax handles the digital.

I keep thinking that maybe I should run a L/R analog also from the DVD player to the Yammy. When I bought my first Yammy, I'm sure the guy told me to do this, but that was a number of years ago, and a lot less gray hairs.

Depends on what digital to analog converter you want to use, your player's or your receiver's. Generally, just use the digital connection from the player to the receiver (coax or optical) for CD's. If you feel your receiver's digital to analog converters aren't as good as your CD players, use your analog connections. In your case, I'd keep using the digital coax.

Thanks for the advice, I'm not an electrical genius so sometimes the manuals don't explain things in simple english, they talk about downsampling, analog, digital, etc., etc., etc., so it helps to get good advice.

Yeah,I thought the same using both analog and coax but no differance in sound BUT with some cd players mp3 discs can only be heard in rca analog due to licenceing issue's.So I'm using both.:)

If you're like most households, you probably have enough RCA cables around to test which sounds best for you. In my case, the DACs on my player sound better for music (and by no small margin) than piping everything into my receiver. Have fun!

Yea, it definitely depends on your DACs

I have a Meridian 506 CD player, and a Yamaha Receiver. The digital to analog converters in the Meridian blow the ones in the Yamaha away, so I use the analog cables to connect. There is a very noticable difference. On the other hand, if your receiver has good DACs, just hook everything up via the digital connects!
