Best bang for the buck. Anything at Best Buy?

First of all let me say hello to all of you as I am new here. Quck question. My Sony receiver appears to have gone out. If I turn it on, about 60 secs later it starts flashing the protect mode and cuts off. I just moved into a new house and am trying to set it up. I will be running the Polk Audio 5.1 surrounds with the receiver.

I have a new gameroom that I will turn into a media room but this will be later so I do not need that good of a receiver now as this is for the downstais living room.

What is the best bang for the buck amp ($200-$400) that I could pick up locally today so I can have it hooked up tomorrow when the sat guy comes to install that stuff? Thanks in advance for any info you can give me! BTW, I can't wait to start buying the good stuff for upstairs!!!!

If you must shop at Best Buy, I say get the best Yamaha receiver you can afford.

Try to find a friend that works at BB. Their employee discount will save you megabucks. I got my Pioneer 1015tx for under $333 with my friend's discount. BB usually sells it for $450 on sale.

Thanks, I was looking at the Yamis. I can go to any place that is local. I would like to go all out and get the good stuff but I don't want to drop all the dough for a system upstairs and downstairs. I won't be too budget oriented on the good system, just this one.

I agree with Glocksrock...Also, if you have multiple Best Buys in the area, go to one of them and find the models you like. Then call around to the other stores and see if there are any open box or clearance available for any of the units you would choose. This could save you a few bucks.

took the liberty of going into the site.....and the yamaha 5850 is right at 400.......it gives you substantial power, XM radio ready (nice), and the great DSP's Yamaha is known for:cool:
