Best Amp For Sub Help

Greeting,
I'm on a DIY sub project. The bass driver will be 15".
I'm looking at two possible amps:

The 500w Bash deg. amp from PE.
And the A370se 350w amp from Rythmik Audio.

I have a 24x24x8 room, around 4608 cf.
Our normal levels is movies and jazz music,
I like more quality sound than loud. But I don't
want a weak bass either.

Which would be a good choice, or is there another amp that
can be recomended?
:)

What class is that second amp?

Also, just to note, those would be cubic feet, not square ;)

Edit:

I see you have the DefTech speakers around, so you already have a touch of low-end response, eh?

I hope you enjoy them...They're definitely some decent speakers, but they REALLY need the right room, both because they're bipolar and because of the metallic tweeter; they're just a naturally bright speaker.

I assume with that size of a room, you'll be able to get them plenty far away from a wall. I hope the room is carpeted? Good to see the ceiling is only 8'.

edit: Just found it on the site you posted:

"Class A/B operation for low distortion. 250W RMS @ 4ohm <0.1%THD, 150W RMS @ 8ohm<0.1% THD. "

So yea, less wattage, but typically more accurate response. BASH is, of course, built for the optimal balance between A/B and D (high power and accuracy), but isn't quite as good as either.

I assume you already know, but if not, here's a link explaining the benefits/drawbacks/working of BASH: http://www.bashaudio.com/technologies.htm

Re:

Auctually, this is how I found out about better speakers than what I had.
The Prev. owners of our house had deftechs in the same living room.
The sound was great.
Thanks for the link, I'll read up on this. Not sure what bash means
but I think that Class D is for degital.
I'm headed to the web site to read up on it.

I call hogwash on the class A/B vs. D vs. Bash. With a subwoofer get the most amount of clean power you can for your dollar. Velodyne uses Class D amplifiers even in their top of the line subs. I doubt there would be a single human being who could accurately tell the difference repeatably with a sub all things being equal.

Perhaps, but there's proof to back up that there IS a difference at some level. It isn't all about the "most" or "cleanest" power and if there weren't a difference so many types for different applications wouldn't need to exist. My belief on such things is that maybe just THAT won't make a difference (although it really does here, at least from what i've heard -by ear, not heard as in from other people), but it very well might accentuate something else. Anything in this market is a host of factors all working together with an end result. Everything along the way contributes and interacts.

I own a rythmic audio amp.. and couldn't be happier.

I do agree though - for subs I don't think class D or A/B really is a bigdeal. Seems to me I read somewhere about AV Recievers having not so hot distortion specs for their sub low level outputs....

Enjoy your project.
