OK i am gettng some PSB T65 cheap. I am wanting to know what would be a good amp to pair up with these spearkers. It will be for a deitaced home theater setup. I will buy a new PSB center channel and the rears will be some PSB inwall/celing that havent been picked out yet.

Can i get some amp suggestions on this?

yea i guess i worte that wrong i am looking for a reciever. The room size is about 13'6"x13'8"x9'. I know it is a box but it is what i have to work with. I will gain some room since there will be a projector in there so the screen will be practully on the wall.

A Seymour XD screen has risen to the top of my wishlist. Then instead of a horiz center speaker placed too low or too high with a PJ rig, have it behind the screen. I also use PSB Images for the HT. One of the difficulties I will face is that I don't know if it's possible to acquire a single PSB Image tower.

You can't beat vertically arrayed drivers. Even height of drivers for best panning. Best match. Better power handling. Now you can even place your speakers ideally without any thought of compromising with screen size. The only thing you will have to consider is to make sure any drivers are not directly behind the frame.

If this idea ever interests you, lemme know, perhaps we can split up a pair or something. Even though my mains are T55s, I don't mind using a T65 for center speaker if I ever get around to upgrading my HT.

If you are curious of the implementations with the above screen, look up member systems belonging to rmk, mperfct, basspig, etc.

Cheers.

EDIT: Hm, a T65 would be tough as center, because the drivers go all the way down to the bottom, unlike with a T55 (which I'd still likely have to put on a riser of some sort). Anyways . . .

I have only one suggestion, if possible get the stuff home to your place and actually try out and see what you like the most..... I'm actually shocked about how much difference there is amongst amplifiers that shouldn't sound different....

So my tip is.... try a bunch of things and trust your ears :D

It's actually quite fun to do these things, to try different gear... make it a fun process :p

There are many fine brands out there.

Concern yourself with getting a receiver that has the needed power to drie your speakers without strain and the inputs you need for now and perhaps future expansion, and fits within your budget.

You might want to look into Denon, Marantz, NAD, Pioneer, as well as others.

Remember, price, power and features...

Ok you are looking for a receiver that will power your T65's in a 1689 ft^3 room, now to throw out one more question what's your budget? Looking at the link that Bandphan gave that is great deal but if you have reservations on used what about Factory Refurbished receivers you can find some great receivers at some good prices that way.

Yes i am try ing to figure out the power needed the PSB website says the speakers are rated for

RMS, Clipping < 10% of the Time
Recommended 10-200 Watts
Program 150 Watts

So does that mean i need a reciever putting out 150W or what

how much to spend that is a good question i say the least possible to get good quality sound how does $800 sound if i need to spend more that isnt a problem i give a range $500-$1500. I talked to a guy in a store in Houston he suggested Onkoyo 608 but i want something with preamp in case i want to add an amp or something latter.

Well if you're dead set on a receiver, I gotta give my marantz reccomendation. They just sound great.

I'm a guy that's using an SR6003 to power some speakers with similar impedance and less sensitivity than yours, and while I can definitely sense that I don't want to push it too hard, i also feel it's great for what I want out of it. What I like about it is the pre-outs so I can maybe next year get some emotivas to power the front stage and open up the rear soundstage in effect...

or you could always go with affordable separates from the get go; maybe an AV7005 as your prepro... or the Emotiva UMC-1 paired with any of the following collections of their amps depending on your intended usage and price range... there's so many options lol!

1x Emotiva UPA-7

or

1x Emotiva MPS-2

or

Mains
1x Emotiva XPA-3
3x Emotiva UPA-1

with

Surrounds
1x Emotiva UPA-5
2x Emotiva UPA-2
1x XPA-5

or

Mains
1x Emotiva XPA-2
2x Emotiva UPA-1

with

Surrounds/Center
1x Emotiva XPA-5
2x Emotiva UPA-5

or...

7x Emotiva XPA-1 :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
