Hello,

I currently got my hands on fully working Bose Acoustimass 6 III set for free, that is fully working, except its missing the center speaker. I also got my hands on Denon AVR X1000 for 150€. The thing is, I cant seem to find the missing Bose speaker at reasonable price, mostly people are just selling entire sets, or the individual speakers at quite high prices.

Could you please recommend me an affordable center speaker, that would fit the Bose acoustimass set perfectly? I am planning on running it in fairly small apartment, 5x5m.
Or do you think its a waste and I should just use it in 4.1 config?

Any advice will help, thank you very much.

Sell Bose for top € and use it buy actually good speakers. Do keep that avr - it's decent deal, as long you have original remote and measurement microphone

I checked and found a single speaker on ebay for $40. That’s too much green to fill out a $700 speaker set that you got for free? Okay, then look at the big picture: People seem to be selling the entire set-up used for about $200. Even if that’s your only option, you still got a $700 speaker set for a mere $200. IOW, you’re one of the lucky ones who got a Bose system for about what it’s really worth.

BoredSysAdmin - well, its my first system, and the great thing about it is, that its small, and fits my small flat perfectly, I am currently living away from my actual home, in a small flat. So for a starter setup, they should suffice. Most of the reviews picture them as good, with cons in price, but for free, that was a nice deal.

WaynePflughaupt - well, I havent really bought much on ebay, so could you send me a link? Also, I am not really sure, because when i googled Bose center, it showed something like double cube side by side. Or should it be just a regular small cube? Ar they all the same, or not? 40 is not really much, I am willing to go as high as 100 to have it up and running, but I am guessing the price you found did not have shipping counted into it, since I am from Europe. And mostly I got it from a older woman, for who I mounted satellite dish, TV on the wall and set up some other things for her and she decided to pay me with the speakers, which to me was a really good deal, since I knew, they are a pretty expensive brand.

Thanks

They indeed are from expensive brand but the quality falls far behind the price point they sell for. But if you can get the missing speakers for around 50€ I suppose it is worth it. It wont sound great but it will produce sound.

Buy the best non-matching center speaker you can afford. Direct most of the sound to that speaker. You'll wonder why you haven't ditched the Bose set and got the rest of the good ones. ;)
