Tommy, I too have often wondered about this. I figured there would be lots of people here that own them. Perhaps as is often the case, I am wrong......LOL!!!! ;);)

I have read up on them a little and it seems that there is a couch Kit for attaching one of them to the sofa.....that could be an intersting idea depending on the genre of the movie/music. I think the deciding factor for me would be the price tag and the amount of power it takes to run the thing.

IMO a good sub properly positioned and properly calibrated into a system will give you that Buttkicker effect on it's own.

Tommy as with most things, money is always an issue. Not real educated about the couch kits and such, but Mazer does make a good point. Even with only one of my Pluses behind my love-seat, I get a good back massage. ;);)

I have never experienced the "buttkicker", but have, for almost a week experienced the SVS PB13 ULTRA. It feels like what ever your sitting is moving across the floor. It is AWESOME!! :D

I bet it is as you are one lucky guy. ;);) Even with one of my Pluses behind my love-seat results in a very nice back massage. Could not even begin to think what an Ultra would do to my little ht room. Sure wouldn't mind to find out though.:eek: Congrats on your purchase.

Cheers,

Phil

I noticed in signature block on tomd51 that he says he has these buttkickers. I wonder if he will post his opinion here?

Thanks for the "heads up" on this thread Chris, but unfortunately, I use the 'Buttkicker' amp to power one of my TC-12 OEM subs, not in the capacity that Tommy, I believe, is looking for with the Buttkicker transducer kits.

I would have to agree with some of the other posters here, though. A properly placed and calibrated sub that can get down to 20Hz (or come close) can produce a similar effect without the added expenditure. Of course, this would also depend on the size of the room it's being used in.

I think transducers like the Buttkicker kits and others help to enhance LFE for those that either can't listen at a loud volume or choose not to, but would still like to have the tactile effect they can produce.

If you've got the space and can listen at louder volumes (e.g., not restricted like an apartment, townhouse, etc.), a well built, strong performing sub can give you a similar effect without the additional cost... -TD

I never looked at the use of ButtKickers like that. I guess in situations like Tom describes ButtKickers might be useful.

I agree with Tom.

I will get one (or two) sooner or later. I live in an apartment, there's no way I could use a sub to rattle my couch. The neighbors would get a hear attack :D
