I thought members might be interested in Ben Maton's YouTube channel. He calls himself the Salisbury Organist.
He is a young man that lives in Salisbury Wiltshire, a beautiful cathedral city. He is a graduate in music (organ) from St. Peter's College Oxford.
Anyhow, Ben has this absolutely fascinating YouTube channel with 135K subscribers and 3.5 million viewers around the world.
He produces these amazing videos each week and has done for the last two years or so. They are released every Sunday. I found out about him from friends here in Eagan. Last Sunday his topic was why and how he got started on these astonishing productions. So I thought this would be a good time to bring him to members attention.
They cover everything from architecture of ancient beautiful country churches, with spectacular filming of ancient English public footpaths in the spectacular south and south west of England. His filming is magnificent. He delves into the local history and architectural highlights of the organs. He plays and records these ancient country organs and even the broken ones, that he has a particular interest in. He covers topics of organ playing and has an uncanny ability of musical analysis and simply explain it. His productions are incredibly eclectic and range far and wide. Each video is packed with interesting and intriguing information about local geography, history and scenery, the sound is excellent. How he manages to produce these fascinating videos all by himself I find totally astonishing.
You do not have to watch his videos in any particular order. Each is a little masterpiece and complete in and off itself.
It is easy once you watch a few to see why his little videos are spreading at lightning speed around the globe. These are certainly worth any members time.
