I have power bars with "advertised" surge protection but I don't thinkthey are all that good. In the summer time during unsetlled weather, I usually unplug my HT before going to work. Luckily for me, I live in a place where the power has been pretty reliable.

I think the best approach is to get a surge protector wired into the main feed of the house. That way everything gets protected. I'm starting to research this now and I'll see how much this is going to cost me. I live in a relatively new house so wiring in a surge protector should be straight forward for an electrician to do.

well right now i dont own my own house, so that isnt really an option for me right now, and all of my stuff are plugged into one of those like $9 surge protectors. but is that all that belkin does, is just a big surge protector? ive just been reading this forum a lot lately and see a lot of people talking about A/V.
