Behringer v PA/ guitar amps

Behringer is probably the best value brand higher power 2 channel power amp (new). 'Budget' PA amps of good quality and extremely competitive price. Their A-500 is iirc 2*220 w, weighing only about 8 kg (18 lbs), due to its light-weight switch mode power supply, and small heat sinks.

Any thoughts on how Behringers compare for sound quality with 2nd hand traditional amplifier engineering, ie toroid transformers and hefty heat sinks, that are likely if nothing else to be more robust and if necessary repairable, like you'd find in 2nd hand amps by Randall, Crown, etc?

As a sub amp, I suspect you probably wouldn't notice any difference.

But let's say up to an active crossover at about 500 Hz, any experience or thoughts on their relative sound quality?

Thanks

The Behringer A500 is transparent, it will sound every bit as good as the other amplifiers. For the record, the A500 is not a switching amplifier, it is class A/B. The EP1500 and EP2500 are switching.:)

For the money, there isn't much if anything (new and used) that can compete with the value of Behringer's amplification and DSP/EQ products.
