Did I read somewhere that the toggle switches are either labled incorrectly on the amp or in the owner's manual? Which is correct and where should they be set for mono bridged?

yep.

ignore the "mode switches" labels on the left side red part. follow the ones on the right side.

dip switch 3 and 8 should always be to the right. (some people do 2 and 9 as well, but it shouldn't matter)

6 and 7 to the right IF you want to bridge mono the amp.

the manual and the one on the right side are the same.
