Behringer B2031P Any Good?

Hi guys,

Right now my audio setup consists of the amazing eD A2-300 and Behringer MS16 Monitors

.... As you can see I really need to upgrade my monitors ASAP. :D

These speakers will mainly be used with Electronic music. Are the Behringer's any good and would they be good for electronic/techno use? Could I temporarily use this amp with the B2031P until I get a proper receiver?

Thanks guys, without your help I'd probably be using some Sony HTIB right now.

Oh, almost forgot..

I'm using my PC sound card as a source (Creative Xfi). So no need for any extra features. I just need speakers + power.

The two I listed are both amps only :) D'oh, it looks like the Amp100 just went out of stock while I was typing! I was thinking about one of them for my garage setup.

Thats fine. I think newegg.com still sells the audiosource for around the same price. I'm not sure how much power I need so I'd rather spend a little extra just in case.

So what about the speakers, I'm guessing you guys approve? :p

I don't think anyone here has measured the 2031p's. There is a chance that its quality is not quite up there with the 2030p's. I will say however the 2030p's are an absolutely astounding speaker.

Their measured response is incredible, and they also excellent off axis response. This measurement was done by a member of this forum.

Very linear and neutral. A steal for $130. Talking with wMax, I believe he said the next best thing would be KRK rockits, or the Ascend Acoustics CBM-170. But still, at double the price.

Now about how they sound for EDM. I've been listening to Trance, Eletrco House, Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Garage, Bassline, Jungle, Chillout.......... for about the past 7 years.

I also produce various genre's of EDM on the 2030p's.

Remember, I have yet to hear the 2031p's. Do you really need an 8" woofer? I will certainly recommend the 2030p's and guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

My guess would be that the 2031p won't be quite as clean as the 2030p with the 8" driver, but it will have more bass if there is no sub involved and it will likely still sound better than the typical speaker in the price range.

The 2031 is 4 ohms according to the spec sheet if that's going to be an issue. 2030 is 8. And the 2030's have most definitely impressed me.

So I guess I'll be getting the B2030P instead, because I already have a subwoofer.

By the way, if my budget gets a little tight... whats wrong with the Pyle amplifiers anyway?

My choices for an amplifier are this:
$40 Pyle amp (2 channels)
$80 AudioSource amp (2 channels)
$170 Onkyo HT-R560 (7 channels)

My goal is to save more money in the long run and it seems by getting a full-fledged receiver I save a bit more then buying multiple amps.

Thanks guys.

Yeah that's a pretty nice find. I really don't need a crossover though. My sub has one. I think I'll just have to use the audiosource amp. Its a tad bit expensive, but its just what I need.
How will you connect the sub?

Let us know what you think of them.

I would also go for the audiosource.
