Behringer A500 vs Emotiva UPA-2

Hi Guys,

I recently ordered a new sub from SVS and I think that it is time to get a new amp. I already have two A500 bridged powering my mains.

I am now thinking that I should get another amp to power my center channel. I will be ordering one of them by Monday so I have a toss up between another Behringer A500 or a Emotiva UPA-2.

Which one do you guys suggest.

The UPA-2 cannot be bridged, so I do not believe you would want it. However, the UPA-1 is a mono amp by design, so would fit your needs at the same cost.

You will probably get more answers from those familiar with one or both (I have neither). However, since you already have A500's and I assume are comfortable with any concerns over fan noise and aesthetics (which is not a concern for a true Audioholic), on paper, the A500 puts out more power than the UPA-1 and will stack perfectly with your other A500's while leaving more money in your pocket.

Thanks, I hope others can chime in and offer additional advise.

If you are happy with the A500 by all means get another one. I have one and it has been fine so far.

The facts though are that you just spent ~$600 on amplification and you could have picked up an XPA-3 for about the same :)

You could take the $200 (I am assuming you are purchasing new) sell you other two A500's for $100-125 and take that $400-450 and put it toward one multi-channel chassis.
