The behringer 2030/2031a's already have an amp built in. I know many folks like them.

Agreed, however I have already purchased the 2030p's because of the faulty amps the active series supposedly uses. I have used active monitors in the past (KRK rokit rp6cl), but wanted to try these because of the positive buzz. So far I'm quite pleased, although I still need to perform the modifications. Hope to get a pair of mopads next week for the monitors.

I'm currently running the speakers out from my pc into the receiver, and I'm running the pc directly into the sub. Using windows bass management, 80hz cut-off right now. Sounds good, just need to work on placement.

Have you looked into the Gizmo V1.0M amp? Its been reviewed pretty well, has a sub-out connection, and a 100Hz crossover, https://tweakcityaudio.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage-ask.tpl&product_id=18&Itemid=1

Definitely a nice buy =)
I looked into that in the past, one of the reasons I'm interested in the DTA-100 in for use as a headphone amp as well. I haven't read any reviews on the quality of the DTA-100 with headphones, but people seem to have determined that it does use a separate discrete chip for the headphone amplifier section.

The other reason I've mostly ruled out the Gizmo is the power, 25WPC at 4 ohms might not be enough to push the 8 ohm Behringers effectively.

That being said, Craig seems like a good guy and I may contact him to get some more info. I've heard rumors of a Gizmo 2 with more power, the post I read sounded promising.

Ah yea it does lack the headphone amp, guess its going to be hard to find all the features one would like in something this size.

I bought a DTA-100 amp and noticed that there is a problem with left/right balance. when the volume is low the left channel is louder then right. this seems to improve as the volume is raised, giving a normal balance when its about half ways. I tried changing speakers around, also the input which didnt change anything so it must be the potentiometer. same result on headphones and speakers... can you confirm that your unit is working well?

I haven't purchased the unit yet, was planning to pick it up this week but it seems to be out of stock. If you haven't contacted the support at PE yet I would do so, they've got a good team that should be able to help you out.

I'm bumping up this post because I have found a need for the Dayton T-amp and wanted to see if you ever purchased it. That Tweak city amp looks pretty nifty too. :p

I haven't purchased it yet, there was a QC issue with the signal balance, just as tb2496 described. ETA on the PE site keeps getting pushed back, currently at 11.24.10. I think this is still my top choice...I'm tossing around the idea of using this or the TCA Gizmo (not sure how I feel about that 100 Hz cut)...considering pairing them with an E-Mu 0404, a nice looking interface.

I'm trying to figure out in my head how best to incorporate the above pieces with ASIO, a sound driver for windows. The subwoofer (Using a Sub-100) support is something I haven't had time to really evaluate...not sure what components would work best together.

Finally, I am seriously considering putting together something based on the Sure boards available at PE, something like this one.

How's that for not helpful! :D

Lol. For my 2 channel set up I have the L and R RCA's going into the sub inputs, then I have the L & R outputs go to my amp. Works for me!:D

btw, I'll be using B2031P's and a Dayton Sub-120 :p
