Beginners question about speakers and impedance.

this is my 1st post on any bulletin board. I have a question, and would appreciate any help. I have 5 Sonance D5500 speakers mounted in my ceiling. I also have a Sonance DL 800 powered subwoofer. My questions are: is A Yamaha RX-V2500 AV receiver powerful enough to drive these speakers? Also, the speakers are rated at 6 ohms nominal, 4 ohms minimum. Would this be an issue with this amp and speakers? Thanks, cerf@pacbell.net.

I'm not familiar with those speakers, but you can easily drive a reasonably efficient 6-ohm load with the Yamaha. Your only difficulty would be if you intended to crank them to ridiculous levels, for long periods of time, and consistently drive the amps into distortion.

With them all set to small, it should be OK. As Clint said also, if it starts to sound distorted, turn it down. Most decent receivers can handle 6 Ohm nominal speakers.
