Beginner's problem : Yet to take a decision........

After lot of browsing for more than one week, I have rounded my HT purchase under three options :-

First Option
Receiver : Pioneer VSX 1130-K 7.2 ($ 599.99)
Speakers : Polk Audio TSX 550T 5.1 ($ 1532.00)
Extra Sub : SVS SB 1000 ($ 499.99)
For Atmos : Onkyo SKH 410 ($ 149.00)
Total Price : $ 2780.98

Second Option
Receiver : Yamaha RX-A850 7.2 ($ 899.95)
Speakers : BIC Acoustech PL-980 5.2 ($ 1799.00)
For Atmos : Onkyo SKH 410 ($ 149.00)
Total Price : $ 2847.95

Third Option
Receiver & Speaker Combo : Polk Audio TSX550T 5.1 & Pioneer VSX-1123-K 7.2 ($ 1974.00)
Extra Sub : SVS SB 1000 ($ 499.99)
Total Price : $ 2473.99
(The Pioneer VSX 1123 doesn't support Atmos, so no point in purchasing the onkyo atmos modules...)

Which would be the better option among the three??? I am planning to get it from Amazon...

My listening space is moderate and this is my first major purchase and I won't be upgrading any of these for at least 5 years from now....

Waiting for your comments and suggestions.......

Agreed, none of these options are terrific for the money. The Polk TSi speakers are not very good, and the SB1000 is not much of a subwoofer unless you can only have something really small. The BIC subwoofers are budget subs and not exactly mind-blowing. I would bookshelf speakers and a good sub, and let the sub handle the low frequency stuff. Tower speakers would be a waste with a good subwoofer. I have heard the Atmos system using those special Atmos speakers and it was pretty meager. If you can't do in-ceiling speakers, just forget about Atmos. It's not worth getting into otherwise.

If you wanted an affordable Atmos system, I think the best solution at the moment is a Hsu package using the HIW speakers as in-ceilings. Dolby recommends that all speakers in an Atmos setup be timbre matched, which is something you can get with in-wall/in-ceiling speakers from Hsu. Per Dolby: "overhead speakers should complement the frequency response, output, and power-handling capabilities of the listener-level speakers. Choose overhead speakers that are timbre matched as closely as possible to the primary listener-level speakers." You will want to read their Atmos installation guide. Take a look at a 5.1 Hybrid 3 setup from Hsu, and throw in a pair or two of the HIW speakers for in-ceilings. The Hsu speakers are very good and the Hsu sub would just crush the BIC or SVS subs.

If you can not do in-ceiling speakers, the Hsu package would still be good, but there are other good speakers out there too. I might be looking at some Ascend CMT340s or EMPTek R55Ti speakers. I would still go for the Hsu sub, it can not be beat for the price. Those would be tremendously better than a Polk/SVS SB1000 system. They are all manufacture direct only as well, so you can not get that stuff from Amazon. If I had to order from Amazon on your budget, I would be looking at some Klipsch RB-61s for front left/right speakers, RC-62 center, RB-51 speakers for surround channels, and an SVS PC12-Plus sub. That would be a good system, much better than the Polk/SB1000 or BIC Acoustech packages.

I would say keep the receiver to Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, or Pioneer. Get the modal which has the most features you want. Don't worry about amplification wattage, they are all essentially equal at your budget.

kiranbeginner,
It would be easier to help you if you kept your questions to us in one thread.

You've already asked the same basic questions here:
http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/threads/av-receiver-speaker-configuration.95162/

and had many responses.

Then, you started asking questions here:
http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/threads/denon-avr-x1200w-x2200w-dolby-atmos-and-dts-x-receivers-preview.95210/#post-1088322

which I tried to help you with.

I feel as if we're wasting our time...

But that's just me...

Today I got 2 deals here in Brazil :-

First
Receiver - Denon X 4100
Speakers : JBL 230 - F (L&R), JBL ES 20 - Surround (L& R), JBL Studio 235C - Center Channel & JBL ES 150 - Subwoofer

Price for total : USD $ 3500

Second
Receiver - Denon X 2100
Speakers : JBL 280 - F (L&R), JBL 230 - Surround (L& R), SBL Studio 235C - Center Channel & JBL ES 250 - Subwoofer

Price for total : USD $ 4200

Of course, both these are over priced when compared to US markets, but there is no option here...

Out of the two above, which is a better buy? I think the X 4100 is much better that X 2100...

I would go with option number one - however, I would swap the 150 sub out
for the 250 sub.

Do they have any Sunfire subs in your area?

I will try for the 250 sub, except jbl & infinity, no subs are available here.....

Rest, is it ok with this combination?
