Since moving the Newbe / beginner section from the top to near the bottom of the forum page, a lot more threads with a subject and topic like:
"Need Help! New to HT, What is a subwoofer, etc."
end up in the receiver and speaker forums rather than the Beginner section. I think that the stiky thread in the beginner fourm with a list of articles and information is very useful to new users if they can find it.

That's what I suggested awhile back and it was moved. This new format moved it back down. I'm lazy I wouldn't scroll that far down with my newbie amp question if I saw the amp section at the top.

I also think more newbie questions were being looked at and answered by more members. (tell me if I am wrong AH you probably have the stats.) Again I'm lazy I don't always scroll that far down.

What ever works best for everybody,:)

I gotta agree. I can see some merit in having the "general" section near the top but maybe it should take second to the beginner area. I think those unfamiliar with the site are apt to place their post in the first place they see.
Perhaps it should be suffixed with the statement "those new to the site post here first" or something to that effect???

Being new to this forum, I'm guilty of not posting my first couple of questions within the right category.

Now that I see the "Beginner" area, I'll start posting my basic questions there.

Given the amount of money that I'll be investing in my home theatre, I want to make sure that I'm making good choices. But, it can seem overwhelming at first. I've certainly considered hiring an expert to help me with this, but that is costly and won't help me learn anything about what I'm buying.
