Hey guys,

Thought this'd be the fairest place to ask, and I'm sure everyone may have tried to set up a 5.1 in an uncommon area before. The uncommon area I've had my setup moved to, is... the room I rent.

I have an HK and low end (imo) small polk bookshelf set. The setup I have now is a wall mounted Bravia. Fronts, receiver, and source just below it on a dresser. No problem with them. The problem is the 2 surround.

There's no way to sugar coat it. The setup is real ghetto compared to having a proper living room setup. With a queen bed that has a tall leather-bound headboard, flush against a wall in the corner of the room (hence, no night stand or table on both sides, just on one side), was wanting to know if its feasible, or effective at all, for me to purchase shallow in wall speakers, and install them into the headboard? Or any other ingenious methods of overcoming such an obstacle?

Uses: Home theater (HDMI) and explosive gaming rig running optical out to HK.

If you are considering installing wallmounted speakers into the headboard, why not just get some mounts and attach them to the headboard instead? Or just do some rearranging and buy some stands or wallmounts and attach them the the walls accordingly.

The trouble that I have with that, is how close to the listening point they would be. If I were to just mount the current polk speakers I have to the headboard, they'd protrude and be 3-5 inches closer than they could be, and as small as that seems to be, I worry it'll be putting the sound right past the listening area.

If I were to wall mount speakers into the headboard, they'd just be that much further back and make it worth while. Sorry for the shotty diagram. The only reason that I don't re-arrange, to be honest... its cause I can't. The room realistically shouldn't be sporting a Queen size. I've downgraded significantly in my living space.

Last shotty diagram - the wall mount area:

--F L---Mixer/ Bravia/ Center/ HK / PC / PS3---F R--| Closet Area

Between the dresser that supports the mixer, HK, sources, and the closet area, is a small wall, so really there's only the one pocket in the room where the bravia could be mounted, and the audio is revolving around being centered with the display.
