I don't have a PC where my home theater is. Can I hook up the blu-ray player to my wii and use the wii's wireless internet to connect to my router?

You will need a wi-fi bridge. This is something you connect directly to your network JUST FOR THE SETUP then you can plug it in anywhere in your home and plug your non-wifi products into it and get wi-fi access.

Something like this will give you one computer connection...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124015

But I would go with something like this...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124266

The second one gives you connectivity if you add more Ethernet products to your equipment stack and need networkability. Something like AppleTV or something else can then be added easily.

Hm...is bdlive worth the $$ for a wi-fi bridge?

I've never used it after getting my PS3 on opening day. But, I do think that online firmware updates are incredibly important, and that you likely will run into one or two components in the future which will need Ethernet as well.

I expect in the next couple of years we will see a list of BD players with wi-fi built in.
