Hi,

I currently have a older samsung bdp-1400. I use hdmi for audio bitstream.

Do you benefit from much better SQ when upgrading to a more expensive
BD player like a Pioneer Elite BD-05 or better? In this case you would
be using the Analog Multi Out.

I just wonder if in my case how subtle the SQ difference would be between
my Elite SC-05 decoding the audio bitstream vs. the Elite BD-05 internal decoding and sending analog out.

So those with higher end BD players, do you still use Multi out or let
your AVR decode the audio?

thanks

The Pioneer BDP-51FD Blu-ray player, YES, that one is a great value.

Hey photoeye,

The way you are Bitstreaming the audio from your Samsung HDMI output to your Receiver HDMI input is the best way to do it, period.

There is no other better way to do it.

The multichannel analog audio output from the Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD won't be better than the way you already using. And besides, you'll loose the better bass management from your Pioneer Elite SC-05 receiver.

The only thing that you'll gain, is the perfect match with your receiver, for the looks.

And with the BDP-05FD, you won't be able to benefit from the PQLS circuits for additional jitter reduction, because it is only available with the next higher models, the SC-07 and SC-09TX.

If you want to upgrade your Samsung BD-P1400 Blu-ray player, I suggest that you get the Pioneer BDP-51FD model Blu-ray player. It is heavily discounted at certain places, and with the latest firmware update, it is one of the best player around, picture, sound and value wise.
But do still use the HDMI output for Sound quality, and check the analog stereo output for playing CDs.

Cheers,

Bob
