If you want to compare the processed signal to the raw input in stereo you should have a button called “pure direct” or something similar which bypasses all processing and feeds the signal directly to the amps and then to the mains. If you find you like that better than the processed signal, then you should turn off all processing as others have recommended.
As Gene pointed out in his latest review of the Yamaha Z11, when you use DSPs instead of Pure Direct, you add distortion to the receiver. So if possible, use as little DSP as possible.

In other words, use Discrete 5.1 or 7.1 only, instead of trying to change 2.0 or 5.1 to 7.1. For example, PCM Uncompressed Audio 5.1, TrueHD 5.1, and DTS-MA 5.1 should be kept solely as 5.1 -- unaltered or Pure Direct 5.1.

You mean upgrade the Def BP1.2x to the BP8 (30Hz-20kHz +/-3dB) or BP10 (25Hz-20kHz +/-3dB)?

Yeah, get them all Full Range/Large and turn off all EQs/Tones.
I would have already done that if I had the space in my living room for them, but I have to have wall mounted side surround speakers, so the extra pair of BP8s I had needed to get sold. But I did get the CLR 3000 hooked up last night, but didn't have much time to really listen to it. I will be watching some movies this weekend, so that should put it to the test.

So your only weak link is the BP1.2X.

Know what I think?

I think you should sell them and just do 5.1 Full-Range.:D

Actually, in the long run (may next year), I think you should sell the BP1.2Xs and the BP8s. Then get another pair of BP10s. So then your complete system will be 4 BP10s + 1 CLR3000 + SVS Sub = AWESOME.

I say quality over quantity.:D

Actually, the BP8s are just right for the surround back, if I used another set of BP10s they would be too tall since the rear woofer would be sitting above the ledge behind where they are placed, and I would lose some of the bi-polar effect. And I don't plan on getting rid of my BP1.2x, I would rather keep them and run them crossed over at 80hz. than to do without them. Plus, I got really great prices on all my def tech stuff, since I bought all of them used. So the only upgrade I would consider now is upping the 1.2s to something a bit larger of the same design, at least until I move to a different house.

Yeah, you do have a great setup -- very practical, well-proportioned, up-to-date, and functional. What you have is good enough for any house.

I wish had waited and got the 73" Mitsubishi like you.

As Greg pointed out, I'm just not quite right upstairs.

So any pics yet of your setup?:D

No, no pics yet... my CLR 3000 didn't have the definitive logo on it, so I emailed them and asked them to send me one... I gotta have it matching the rest of my speakers. I'll try to clean up downstairs and get some pics up soon. My new puppy has been taking up a lot of my free time lately, so I haven't been able to do all the things I've been wanting to do. How can you resist this face

Oh, absolutely!

It must have the Definitive logo, no question about it!:D
